Happy Birthday, Tianluo!

We were very excited to help Tianluo celebrate his 8th birthday recently. Tianluo, in grade 3, donated six birthday books to the library! His books are Meet the Dullards by Sara Pennypacker and Daniel Salmieri; The Darkest Dark by Chris Hadfield, Kate Fillion, and the Fan Brothers; The Legend of Rock Paper Scissors by Drew Daywalt and Adam Rex; Dragon was Terrible by Kelly DiPucchio and Greg Pizzoli; The Bad Guys in Mission Unpluckable by Aaron Blabey; and The Cave of Aaaaah! Doom! By Jaden Kent and Iryna Bodnaruk. Tianluo will certainly be busy with so many books to read! We hope he enjoys his birthday books.

Happy Birthday, Anna!

Thank you to Anna, in grade 2, for her Birthday Book Club donation to the library. Anna’s birthday book is Ketzel, the Cat Who Composed by Lesléa Newman, which is based on a true story. Because Anna loves the book Dewey: There’s a Cat in the Library! by Vicky Myron, which is also based on a true story, we thought she would enjoy reading about Ketzel. Anna was the first student to check out this book from the library. Happy birthday, Anna! We hope you enjoy your book!

Matt Holm Author Visit

Last week, we were pleased to host author and illustrator Matt Holm for two days of workshops with elementary and secondary students and teachers. Mr. Holm shared his journey to becoming an author and illustrator, and how he creates the artwork for books like the popular Squish and Babymouse series. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed his workshops, and many students were inspired by his visit and wanted to work on their own illustrations. A big thank you to Matt Holm and the team at Obido books who helped make it happen!

First Birthday Book Club members for 2017-2018!

Happy birthday, Jun Seo!

Thank you to Jun Seo, grade 2, for his Birthday Book Club donation to the library. Jun Seo’s birthday book is The Adventures of Ook and Gluk, Kung-Fu Cavemen from the Future by Dav Pilkey. Jun Seo enjoys reading funny books, so we think he will like this book! He was the first student to check out the book from the library this week. Happy birthday, Jun Seo!

Happy birthday, Claire!

We also celebrated Claire’s birthday with a Birthday Book Club book this week. Claire, in kindergarten, enjoys learning animal facts, so we hope she will like reading What if You Had Animal Teeth? by Sandra Markle. Happy birthday, Claire!
